Phew it’s a real scorcher today!

Decorating is probably not at the top of your list but there are ways of keeping a cool vibe in your home for the hottest of days…

Declutter (easier said than done I know!) to let the air circulate around your home more freely. Box up some of your old knick knacks to store (or sell later). Move throws, Winter coats, bags and general stuff that gathers everywhere to a spare room or garage. You’ll feel liberated and definitely more chilled.

Take tips from our friends in the Mediterranean, good blinds, shutters or blackout curtains to create shade and keep your space as cool as possible in the hottest parts of the day, especially on South facing windows.

For the diehard decorators like me, choose faded cool shades for your living and sleeping areas and paint with lovely soft muted chalky emulsion, shades of the sea and sky is fresh and inherently modern.
