I was completely hooked by BBC2's Great Interior Design Challenge. How brilliant to hear real clients’ with real briefs for their rooms and to see how each designer tackled his or her brief – negotiating compromises (or not) with their clients on some of their more ambitious concepts and keeping to a tight budget. Design in the real world!
My favourite of all had to be the update and uplift of the Arts and Crafts Victorian front rooms in Moseley, Birmimgham – especially the room designed by Sarah Moore. I may have to find space for that gorgeous parrots and bamboo wallpaper she covered every wall of the room with. It’s is completely glorious.
The paper is Great Ormond Street by Little Greene – a faithful copy of an old paper uncovered in the recent redecoration of a property in London's Great Ormond Street (famous for the children's hospital) and brought to life again with modern and traditional printing methods.
Sarah lifted the design with little flashes of the bright yellow in her accessories.
Always on trend – beautiful FLOWERS…
What’s better than fresh flowers? I love these colours together – a perfect pick me up from a fabulous photo shoot by Mulberry at home. Rich reds and powdery pinks make a beautifully festive pallette.
